A Visit to Kawthaung, Myanmar
Kawthaung's geography
Known as Victoria Point in colonial times, Kawthaung is one of the most famous towns as well as the important trading point of Myanmar. Kawthaung, also sometimes spelled as Kawthoung, exists at the southernmost of Myanmar, in Tanintharyi Region. Everybody can make a trip to the Thai border town of Ranong for the run visa, adorable sightseeing, and good shopping by the cruises, live-aboard and day trips by speed boat operated from Kawthaung.
Places you must not miss in Kawthaung
There are interesting and different cultural places influenced by strong Indian and Muslim. At the centre of the town, Pyi Daw Aye pagoda is distinctly existed and has some market stalls at the entrance. Including this pagoda, there are many hilltop pagodas decorating the town and offering to view the beauty of the sea.
Comfortable white and beige individual chalets are on the cliff top and two- or three-room blocks in the garden area, tastefully decorated and superbly appointed. All rooms have balconies and the sea-facing ones can have the most spectacular views over the surrounding islands.

There’s also less well known pagoda, offering panoramic views of the area, and a park to the south of the main waterfront offering the views of the town and across the Kraburi River estuary to Ronong, Thailand as well as the Thai mountains in the distance. Kawthaung is also the primary gateway for the tours to spectacular 800 islands of Mergui Archipelago as well as some amazing beaches in the north bound to Myeik and Dawei.
